Here’s a couple of 6400 ISO Ambient Light shots from Sycamore Shoals Elizabethton, TN. over the weekend.  Captured in RAW and coverted using Nikon’s N2x.  Then, resized to 700px. No post processing other than the resizing. Less noise than the D3. I’m pleased with the D3s performance.

I was browsing some of my Speedweeks shots key-wording and such when I ran across this picture of rain coming down at Volusia.  It made me think about some of the rain-outs or rain delays we had this year.  The one that sticks out the most has to be the Knoxville Nationals.  Rained for days.  My first time there and I thought it rained everyday in Iowa.  Beautiful racetrack and it turned out to be a great show.   Oh yeah, this was the first time I witnessed jet dryers on a dirt track. :)

Interstate 81 Exit 7

This shot is a combination of 4 long exposures and combined in photoshop. Then I masked out unwanted areas of each one until I came up with what I was after.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be updating my website with the non key-worded galleries.  I’ve been putting this off for months, and now it’s time to get all my galleries up to snuff.  We also have changed hosting services and should be finalized sometime in the middle of next week.  I have noticed my site has been slow to not even pulling up in web browsers at times.  Hopefully, this will be cleared up this coming week. Hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving.  Cheers.  :)

Well I decided a couple of weeks ago to part with my Nikon D3. It’s an excellent camera in every way. So I made the plunge for the new Nikon D3s. It should arrive Tuesday of next week. Looking forward to testing it out. They are both pretty much the same camera with the D3s having a few extra features. For me, the higher ISO’s and larger frame buffers was the main concern for the switch. The biggest complaint with a the D3, is the frame buffer around 13 plus or so (depending on your settings). For a fine camera such as the D3 able to fire 9 to 11 frames per second and the buffer to get full after 13 was disappointing. Nikon later came out with a buffer upgrade which it would allow more than 3 times the size buffer for $500. That was the plan before the “s” came out. Oh yeah, D3s has video, too. We’ll have to see if that’s usable. I’ll post some low light high iso shots. So check back.

Need I say more. This is the most violent crash I’ve witnessed in 2009.

Here’s a shot of Jimmy Mars coming out of turn four. Cars zoom by pretty close, and it made for some heart pounding shots.
